Computer Aided Design
Henkels & McCoy uses industry standard platforms such as AutoCAD and MicroStation. For centuries, paper was the preferred storage medium for engineering data. For portability, convenience, and ease of use, paper was hard to improve on. But paper maps and plans are inherently limited, once plotted, the data represented on paper is static, a "snapshot" of the way things were. In contrast, digital data (CAD) is dynamic, easily updated and printed as needed.
